Hanham Court for special parties
The point about Hanham Court is that it is lived in, but lived in by a couple who design gardens. The decision to open the garden last year was not taken in pursuit of creating a mass visitor attraction, the garden is open to help with the costs of developing and running it and to share with like-minded, interested fellow gardeners. There are no labels, as few signs as possible, the whole principle is to maintain it as a private place occasionally open to visitors. The Garden may be hired for a very few exceptional events on the same principle. It is not a commercial venue in any sense, on the contrary it is expensive and eccentric.
St George’s Church is attached to the house and right in the middle of the Garden
The mellow Tudor house and adjoining Church sit in a garden that has been described by Garden Writer and Designer Stephen Lacey in the Daily Telegraph as “unashamedly romantic… oozing scents… architectural flights of fancy… when you pass through the entrance gate tower you are in another world.” St Georges can be used for Wedding Ceremonies and, by arrangement, for Blessings for a maximum of 100 people.
